Re -advertising for recruiting a consultant for ICT

The Government of Mongolia with support from the World Bank is implementing Livestock and Agricultural Marketing Project with an objective to improve rural livelihoods and food security in selected aimags and soums through enhanced productivity, market access and diversification in livestock-based production systems. The project will address a set of closely linked constraints in market access, price-quality relationships and livestock production (animal health, animal breeding, genetics and nutrition), which need to be treated in an integrated manner. The demonstration of these integrated, market-driven approaches in a small geographic area (pilot) will provide successful models that the Government of Mongolia can replicate through the National Livestock Program. The project will also support pro-poor income and nutrition diversification through horticulture and dairy production at the household level. The use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can, among other activities, boost productivity by improving farmers’ access to market information and extension services and by reducing production risks. Mobile phones, geographic information systems (GIS), radio, TV, videos, geo-positioning systems (GPS), innovative software, and other technologies can also enhance farmers’ adaptability to climate change. New applications, wider and better connectivity, and more durable, cheaper hardware have led to the creation of user-friendly and localized information tools.  ICTs have great potential to enhance and complement traditional extension services. The project is now seeking to recruit qualified international individual consultant for ICT position.Pls see the detailed Vacancy announcement and Terms of reference of the position.
