Project Implementation Support Mission worked in Mongolia

 The Project Implementation Support Mission team led by Stephane Forman, World Bank Livestock and Agricultural Marketing Project Team Leader, worked on the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) from September 6 to September 15, 2016. Project Implementation Support Mission team met with Technical Service Providers and officials from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry of Mongolia and the Ministry of Finance and assessed the project implementation progress.

Stephane Forman and World Bank representatives in Mongolia B.Erdene-Ochir, T.Gerelgua, and B.Dulguun along with PIU members visited Arkhangai aimag, and project-participating soums Tsahir and Tsetserleg from September 8 to September 11, 2016. During the visit, they met with Arkhangai aimag Governor Ts.Munkhnasan, Veterinary Department Head N.Dondog, and governors of Tsahir and Tsetserleg soums and discussed and exchanged views on project implementation progress.

“LAMP supplied laboratory and office equipment to Veterinary Department and veterinary laboratory. Also, LAMP successfully conducted two collaborative researches  with Veterinary laboratory of Arkhangai aimag. These investments play an important role in prevention, control, and decrease of infectious animal diseases,” said G.Mungunkhulug, Laboratory Chief.

While working in Tsakhir and Tsetserleg soums, the Project Implementation Support Mission team met with the project beneficiaries and discussed and exchanged the views on sub-projects implementation progress. The mission team visited “Tsakhir tsaram” cooperative of Tsakhir soum that received sires as investments from the project. They also reviewed the sub peoject progress on the fields of animal nutrition and horticulture production cooperatives. During this time, 13 horticulture production cooperatives operating with LAMP investments celebrated a harvest festival in Tstserleg soum, Arkhangai aimag.

The Mission team visited the animal health buffer zone check point at Gurtin Guur in Khutag-Undur soum of Bulgan aimag. LAMP invested in the connection of this check point to the centralized power supply, built the post building, installed external camera system, road signs, speed bumps and supplied some office equipment.

For two weeks, the World Bank Project Implementation Support Mission worked in PIU and project-participating aimags and soums and gave directions on further actions.
