About Sub project


Provision of Matching Grants to herder groups for investments aimed at enhancing meat and fiber production and marketing, including improved collection, handling, cleaning, sorting, packaging and storage; to small herder groups for investment in pilot milk collection schemes and small-scale dairy processing plants; and to herder groups for investment in livestock feed production and processing and feeding programs. The Matching Grant shall not exceed US$150,000 irrespective of the size of the sub-project and the Beneficiary shall provide matching funds equal to at least 10% of the total sub-project cost.


Provision of Micro Grants to low -income female headed households, unemployed persons, and small scale herders to enable them to diversify their sources of household nutrition and income through investments in horticulture production and processing. The Micro Grant shall not exceed US$10,000 irrespective of the size of the sub-project.


It is an investment – including provision of goods, works, non-consulting services and technical assistance – implemented by an eligible entity that is consistent with the project objectives. There are four types: a. participating soum level sub-projects; b. non-participating soum sub-projects involving animal breeding, since entities managing improved breeds of livestock in other non-participating soums could be sources of supply of improved breed livestock to herders in the project soums; c. aimag level sub-projects on animal health involving aimag veterinary services, since they play a critical role in providing support services for soum-level veterinary services, especially in the areas of the vaccination program (including delivery of vaccines and samples through a cold chain), brucellosis or foot and mouth disease control; d. Regional (five aimags) sub-projects on brucellosis or foot and mouth disease.
